It is with great sadness that we have heard the news of the passing of one of our Founding Fellows, Sir Ronald Mason KCB FRSC FIMMM FLSW FRS.

Sir Ronald was formerly Professor of Inorganic Chemistry, the University of Sheffield and Chief Scientific Adviser at the Ministry of Defence and later became the first Chairman of the University College Hospital NHS Trust.

Sir Ronald was a hugely distinguished scientist and public servant and much valued by the Society and its Fellows.
