Our funders and partners

We work with partners in the higher education and research sector, in Wales and beyond.

We are grateful to the following universities, who provide most of the Society’s core funding:

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David also provides us with office space, meeting rooms and IT support.

We are grateful to Medr: Commission for Tertiary Education and Research (formerly known as HEFCW) for their ongoing core funding, designed to bolster our role as Wales’ national academy, our work to promote research excellence in Welsh higher education and our capacity to act as an independent voice, ensuring that research and innovation is part of policy debates.

We have formed a close working partnership with the Williamson Trust, a charitable trust that promotes education, health and wellbeing through donations to appropriate organisations and individuals.

This partnership has resulted in our Trusted Voices grant scheme and the ‘Reimagining Impact’ project, which seeks to transform how we approach impact, both as a charity, and as a key part of Wales’s research ecosystem.

We are grateful to our Fellows for their support and generosity. As well as volunteering their time, Fellows pay an annual subscription which forms a core part of our charitable income.

Many of our Fellows also make further donations to support one-off projects such as our travel and accommodation bursaries for early career researchers,  and we have benefited from generous legacies that Fellows leave in their wills to support the work we do.  Further details about making donations and leaving legacies are on our website.
