Governance

The Learned Society was incorporated by Royal Charter on 5 August 2016, and was granted Royal Charter Registered Charity Status (No. 1168622) on the same date.

Under the provisions of its Charter and Bye-laws, the Society is governed by a Council which is chaired by the President.

The Society’s Charitable Objects (as distinct from its strategic objectives) are defined as follows in its Royal Charter and Bye-laws:

The objects of the Society shall be for the benefit of the community, to advance education, learning, academic study and knowledge, so as to result in contributing to scientific, cultural, social, environmental and economic development within Wales and beyond.
