International Engagement
We represent Wales in the international science and research system through a number of different initiatives.
Celtic Academies Alliance
The Celtic Academies Alliance is a partnership between the Learned Society of Wales, the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Royal Irish Academy. It brings together the national academies of Ireland, Scotland and Wales to promote and encourage co-operation, collaboration and shared learning across the three academic and research systems.
ALLEA
We are a member of ALLEA, the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities, which represents 60 academies from around 40 EU and non-EU countries. ALLEA operates at the interface of science, policy and society and speaks out on behalf of its members to promote science as a global public good. We give Wales a seat at the table in these important European-level conversations, and provide experts to inform European policymaking.
Our Fellows
Our Fellowship is international, reaching diaspora across the world, as far as New Zealand, Hong Kong, and North America. We offer a route for our influential and talented talented diaspora to give back to Wales in a meaningful way.
Wales Studies
Our Wales Studies programme is also international, with an explicit focus on engaging researchers across the world who are interested in studying Wales, in order to increase the visibility of Wales internationally.
