ECR Support Fund

In the current financial climate, many ECRs are no longer able to access funds to support their career development.

Last year, using generous donations from our Fellows, we provided vital support for Early Career Researchers (ECR) who would otherwise be unable to attend conferences to present their work, build their academic profiles, and grow their professional networks.

This year, we are continuing to ask you to support the next generation of researchers in Wales and strengthen the future of Welsh research. We will use all donations received to benefit ECRs in Wales directly, through travel bursaries, financial help for the networks and events they run, or other targeted support.

Your support for ECRs through this fund helps remove barriers for researchers who face financial constraints and allows them to gain recognition and progress in their careers. Click here to make a donation to this fund. Any amount is welcome. Those who donate over £250 will receive a personal update on how their contribution has been used.

The deadline for donations is the end of July 2026.

The Society’s Advisory Group for Researcher Development will then decide during the summer what are the best ways to use the fund to support ECRs in Wales.

Read Dr William Perry’s blog to see how our ECR bursary helped him deliver a keynote at the Wales Ecology and Evolution Network’s grassroots conference. This is a powerful example of the difference your support can make.
