Appointments, Poems and the Future

Professor Geraint Lewis has been involved in the translation of a classic work of Welsh science fiction: Wythnos yng Nghymru Fydd (A Week in Future Wales). The book, just published, involves time travel and explores what Wales could be like in the year 2033.

Professor Derec Llwyd Morgan‘s latest collection of poems, Bardd Cwsg Arall, has also just been published by Gwasg Carreg Gwalch.

Continuing the literary theme, the Digital Hay Festival is back and a number of our Fellows will be appearing: Professor Mererid Hopwoodwill be discussing how poets have imagined language (12pm, 30th May), while Professor Daniel Williams will join Leanne Woods and Michael Sheen to talk about the life, work and continued relevance of Raymond Williams (1pm, 30th May).

Congratulations to Professor Karen Holfordwho has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Cranfield University. She will begin her new role on 1 August 2021.

Congratulations, too, to Professor Graham Davies who has been appointed Emeritus Professor of Engineering at the University of Birmingham, to add to his Emeritus Professorship of Engineering at the University of New South Wales, Australia.
