LSW collaborates with the British Academy on Childhood project

On 25 June 2019 we co-hosted a British Academy Roundtable at the University of South Wales.

The workshop was held to review a draft policy document that has been drawn up as a part of the British Academy’s Childhood Project, which seeks to review the policy landscape across the UK in terms of how UK and devolved government policies impact children.

Academics from several universities, practitioners, representatives from civil society organisations and officials from a range of government departments came together to explore the changing role of the state in the lives of children.

Martin Pollard, the Society’s Chief Executive, attended the event. Three Fellows were also in attendance: Professor Sir Mansel Aylward CB MD DSC FFPM FFOM FFPH FRCP FLSW, Professor Merideth Gattis FLSW and new Fellow Professor Ann John FLSW. Dr Rhiannon Evans, who was awarded the Society’s 2017 inaugural Dillwyn medal for Social Sciences, was also present.

A report of the event will follow shortly.
