Hustings set to probe Senedd candidates on science and culture policies

This May’s Senedd elections might prove to be the most consequential elections for Wales devolved parliament since they were first held in 1999. To ensure that the concerns of research are considered during the campaign, we are working with partners to hold two hustings in the run-up to the vote.

The hustings will take place online, featuring representatives from the political parties, and focusing on two vital policy areas:

Attendees will be able to submit questions before the event.

The STEMM event is being run in partnership with organisations representing the full breadth of the sector (see list below). It will establish the parties’ positions on a wide range of policies that will have on impact on Wales’ research and innovation base and how this can affect prospects for growth.

The culture hustings will explore how, in an age of misinformation, disinformation, and media echo chambers, we can develop and sustain Wales’ rich cultural landscape.

Attend the hustings:

The STEMM hustings is in partnership with the Institute of Physics, the Royal Society of Biology, the Royal Society of Chemistry, Cancer Research UK, the Physiological Society, Science Made Simple, the Institute of Coding in Wales, the Institution of Civil Engineers Wales, BCS The Chartered Institute for IT, the Institution of Structural Engineers, Technocamps, the Civil Engineering Contractors Association, British Geological Survey, the Campaign for Science and Engineering, The Institution of Engineering and Technology, Academy of Mathematical Sciences, the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.

The Culture hustings is in partnership with the Wales Arts and Humanities Alliance.
