2022: Professor David James received the Hugh Owen Medal 2022 for his work on educational research and capacity development. 

2021: Professor Renold, who received the Hugh Owen medal for outstanding educational research in Wales, works on gender and sexuality education.

2020: Professor Sally Power won the Learned Society of Wales’ Hugh Owen Medal 2020 for her outstanding educational research.

2019: Professor Enlli Thomas was awarded the Hugh Owen Medal 2019 for contributions to educational research.

2017: The inaugural Hugh Owen Medal was awarded to Professor Chris Taylor of Cardiff University.
