Dr Laura Richardson has received this year’s Dillwyn medal (STEMM) from the Learned Society of Wales.
Dr Richardson’s outstanding contributions to the field of marine science exemplify her distinction, leadership, and commitment to societal impact. Her work has garnered significant international attention and demonstrates accomplishment in both research and teaching.
Her work not only advances scientific knowledge but also fosters inclusivity and accessibility in education and research.
Dr Richardson said: “I am honoured and delighted to have received this medal. It means a great deal to me. My heartfelt thanks go to my science collaborators, mentors, and friends, who have contributed along the way.”

The Society’s three Dillwyn medals celebrate Welsh Scholarship and are awarded to early career researchers with between two and ten-year’s professional experience. The medals are named in honour of the Swansea based Dillwyn family who were distinguished in several fields of intellectual activity in arts and science.
