Celtic Academies Alliance: Languages Symposium
The health of Celtic languages, the state of modern language education, and the research and policy landscape around language and disability are on the agenda at a forthcoming Celtic Academies Alliance language symposium.
The hybrid day-long event in Wrexham on 29 April, which we are hosting, shows how effective the CAA can be in bringing together expertise from across the Celtic nations to address global and local challenges.
The symposium will feature panel sessions on Celtic languages, world languages, language and disability, and languages and culture.
The panels will include a focus on policy, part of the CAA’s commitment to act as a bridge between the worlds of research and government. This is an under-pinning principle of the CAA. As Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, said at the formal launch of the CAA in December 2025:
“This Alliance creates a trusted forum for independent advice, shared learning, and constructive dialogue, helping governments take full account of the different circumstances and needs across our nations.”
