We want to:
- build on our initial work to develop the field of Wales Studies, continue to raise its profile, and incorporate this research and activity into the new social model being forged in Wales around the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act.
- connect researchers across disciplines and institutions and facilitate the development of new research and civic mission projects and initiatives. Longer term, we intend to support these projects to secure competitive large-scale grants, further grow research capacity.
The intention of these activities is to embed Wales Studies into the higher education landscape as a more recognised field of inquiry.
Our work aims to enhance public and governmental understanding of the intellectual, creative and social, as well as the economic, contribution of Wales Studies research to the wellbeing and advancement of Wales.
Our Wales Studies Research Workshop Grants are intended to facilitate intellectual and creative interaction and partnership between researchers from different disciplines and from a range of institutions, within the academic community, the public and the private sectors, the Welsh Government and the third sector as appropriate.
The grant scheme is designed to encourage collaborative investigation into a research proposition that is at an early stage of its development.
