The Royal Society, whose Fellowship is made up of the most eminent scientists, engineers and technologists from the UK and the Commonwealth, has elected 44 new Fellows (see http://royalsociety.org/about-us/fellowship/new-fellows-2012/).  Three of the 44 newly-elected Fellows were already Fellows of the Learned Society of Wales.  They are: 

• Professor John Aggleton FMedSci FLSW FRS, Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience, Cardiff University
• Professor Steve Jones DSc FLSW FRS, Professor of Genetics, University College London
• Professor Hywel Thomas FREng FLSW FRS, Professor of Civil Engineering Cardiff University
