Join our new Knowledge Exchange Advisory Group

We are looking for Fellows with strong experience of using evidence to inform policymaking to become members of the Society’s new Knowledge Exchange Advisory Group.

The group will advise the Society on the establishment and activity of a new Knowledge Exchange Mechanism for the Society, supporting the Society’s strategic priority to “Grow our role as a convening power and knowledge broker for scrutiny and debate of complex, real-world issues. Apply these expert insights to grow the Society’s role and reputation for producing trusted, independent policy advice that enables policymakers to tackle challenges at a Wales, UK, and international level.”

Members of the Advisory Group will be formed of individuals with a proven track record of using evidence to inform policymaking.  Please note that all group members will be expected to consider all policy areas equally, rather than focusing on individual areas of interest. Whilst we will aim to include a diversity of disciplines, the expertise we seek is about the mechanism of advice, not the subject area.

The group will be responsible for overseeing the Knowledge Exchange Mechanism. Fellows that are not part of the group will have many opportunities to take part in this work, providing evidence and expertise on a wide range of specific topics. By contrast, members of the group will have specific expertise on mechanisms of policymaking and Knowledge Exchange itself.

Please note also that this group will not be responsible for forming LSW policy positions and is separate from our existing Higher Education/Research and Innovation Policy Group.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the group, please submit a short statement (maximum one page) outlining your interest in the role, and how your experience and expertise would support the work of the Advisory Group to clerk@lsw.wales.ac.uk by midnight Sunday 27 September. Members of the group will be selected by a Chair appointed by the LSW Council, based on experience, expertise, and balance.
