Carmarthenshire National Eisteddfod: Lectures by Fellows of the Society

You are cordially invited to the following meetings and lectures featuring Fellows of the Society which will be held on the Carmarthenshire National Eisteddfod Field, Llanelli: 

  • ‘Thomas Charles o’r Bala: Rhodd Sir Gâr i’r Gogledd’, Professor Densil Morgan discusses the life of Thomas Charles, originally from Carmarthenshire, but known to generations as Thomas Charles o’r Bala, to be held in ‘Y Babell Lên’, Monday 4th of August, at 3.15.
  • Cymunedau Hyfyw: Parhad y Gymraeg’, a Learned Society of Wales lecture by Heini Gruffudd, to be held in the ‘Societies Tent 1’, Tuesday 5th of August at midday.
  • ‘Tunplat Llanelli, “Lladron” America a’r “Mugwump” o Dregaron’, with speakers Professors E. Wyn James and Bill Jones, to be held in the ‘Societies Tent 2’, Thursday 7th of August at 10.30.
  • ‘Darlith Goffa Hywel Teifi Edwards’. Dr Christine James delivers the annual Hywel Teifi Memorial Lecture, and looks at the worrk of renowned poet, Gwenallt. To be held in ‘Y Babell Lên’, Thursday 7th August at 11.00.
  • ‘Syr Rhys ap Tomas a Brwydr Bosworth’, a lecture by Professor Dafydd Johnston, to be held in the ‘Societies Tent 1’, Thursday 7th August at 11.00.
  • ‘Undeb Cymru a’r Byd’, a lecture by Professor M. Wynn Thomas, to be held in the ‘Societies Tent 2’, Thursday 7th of August at 12.30.
  • The Main Science Lecture:Two Welshmen, Two Englishmen, One American’, by Sir John Meurig Thomas, to be held in the ‘Societies Tent 1’, Thursday 7th of August to start at 13.00. Please note that this session has simultaneous translation facilities.
  • Cymdeithas Hanes Eglwys Bresbyteraidd Cymru Speaker: Derec Llwyd Morgan, to be held in the ‘Societies Tent 1’, Friday 8th of August at 11.00.
  • ‘Sesiwn cwestiwn ac ateb ar hanes, gwleidyddiaeth a datganoli’, gyda’r Arglwydd Kenneth O. Morgan, Stondin Gwasg Prifysgol Cymru (LL04), Dydd Gwener, 8 Awst, gan dechrau am 12.00.
  •  ‘Anerchiad Llywydd yr Wyl’, by Sir John Meurig Thomas, to be held in the Pavillion, Saturday 9th of August at 13.20. More information is available here.
