Advisory Group for the Development of Researchers

Over the past year, the Society has been looking at ways in which to grow our ECR Network and ensure it responds to the challenges faced by researchers.

Our goal is to create a community of researchers across Wales.

We want to enhance the research environment in order to grow collaboration by supporting researchers in their careers – whatever direction they take.

We are now looking for up to two Fellows who are passionate about improving the quality of the early-career experience in Wales to join our newly established Advisory Group for the Development of Researchers.

The Advisory Group will help us to set the direction for our work with early- and mid-career researchers to ensure that the programmes and activities being devised meet the needs of these groups.

Up to four ECRs will work with the appointed Fellows over two years to plan how the LSW can add further value to the research landscape without duplicating work. As the Advisory Group is a new initiative, we will plan on meeting on-line at least four times in the first year.

You will help us understand the barriers for researcher development and provide recommendations to help overcome them, as well as strategic advice on the direction of the ECR Network. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is a priority for the Society and the advisory group will be expected to embed this in its decisions.

To apply, complete the Expression of Interest by 5.00 pm on 30 June 2022, which includes space for a 250-word supporting statement. We will be looking for applicants from a mix of disciplines and backgrounds to enable a diversity of perspectives.
