Dr Wakelin is an independent writer, curator and consultant specialising in art and the built heritage. He was formerly Director of Collections and Research at Amgueddfa Cymru and Secretary of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales. His books include official guides to the Blaenavon and Pontcysyllte World Heritage sites, a history of refugee artists in Britain and their impact, and monographs on several important Welsh artists.
