Professor Hazel V. Carby is a pioneer in the fields of black feminism and as a leading scholar in black diasporic literature and culture. Among other honours, she has been awarded the American Studies Association’s Jay B. Hubbell Medal for lifetime achievement in American Literature, and the British Academy’s Nayef Al-Rodhan Prize for Global Cultural Understanding.
