Professor Alan Fraser

Professor Fraser’s specialist expertise is imaging of the human heart and vessels using ultrasound (echocardiography). Major projects in which he has been involved include the early detection of heart muscle disease; understanding mechanisms of heart failure; providing non-invasive evidence of coronary artery disease; investigating interactions between the heart and large arteries; and studying long-term results after surgical heart valve replacement. Professor Fraser has focused recently on implantable, high-risk medical devices, providing evidence to regulators in the European Union.
