Dr Laura Jones

Laura is a Programme Officer in the Researcher Development team at the Learned Society of Wales. She supports the team’s broad range of work including the Early Career Researcher Network and general communications. In particular she supports the Society’s grant schemes in communicating with applicants and grant holders and delivery of the schemes.

Laura has a background in social science research particularly in the fields of religious studies and contemporary British Muslim communities. She completed her PhD in Cardiff University in 2022 before working on an ESRC-funded research project for the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and then the University of Edinburgh until 2025. Laura continues to develop her research portfolio in this field through publications.

Laura is fluent in Welsh and has supported events at the National Eisteddfod for the Learned Society of Wales and Wales-based Muslim media company Now in a Minute Media. She promotes the Welsh language and supports Welsh-medium initiatives and activities in her current role at the Learned Society of Wales.
