Charlotte Husnjak
Charlotte is the Society’s Events Assistant. She helps organize and facilitate our online and in-person events. Charlotte works closely with the Head of Public Policy to deliver events for the Fellowship and external audiences, while also supporting our communications work.
Before joining The Society in 2025, Charlotte spent two years in Tokyo as an assistant language teacher with the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme. There she also volunteered with Amnesty International, leading on international events and spearheading the organisation’s first ever film festival in Japan. Previously Charlotte has also worked in East London as Senior University Access Officer/Events Lead at The Access Project, in Cambridge as a Nightline volunteer, and at a pottery painting studio in her home village of Caerwedros.
A previous Free School Meals student, Charlotte holds a BA and MPhil in Education from Homerton College, the University of Cambridge, where she specialised in Children’s Literature and Sociology and was awarded the 2020 Horobin Prize. In 2021 she presented her research at international conferences as a Homerton Charter Scholar, and founded an independent mentoring scheme to support Welsh Oxbridge hopefuls during the COVID-19 pandemic
Born in Slough but raised in the wild heart of West Wales, Charlotte was educated in English and Welsh. She is committed to improving her Welsh via weekly lessons and self-study, and championing Welsh excellence in her professional and personal spheres. In her free time Charlotte is a spoken-word artist and writer, focusing on Welsh mythology, reality, and humanity. She also enjoys wild swimming and the occasional bit of amateur-level knitting.
