Key roles now open to Fellows – please apply

We are pleased to invite Fellows to apply to join the Society’s Council. The Council is our board of trustees. Members are responsible for the overall governance, strategy and plans of the Society, which is a Royal Charter Charity. The Council ensures that the Society complies with its governing documents and the law, and that it manages its resources responsibly.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

The Society is enriched by the different backgrounds and perspectives of our Fellows, and we are keen to receive a diverse range of applications.

Terms of office

Fellows of the Society are invited to submit an application for these roles, serving for a period of three Society Years, from the end of the Annual General Meeting scheduled for 22 May 2024 until the end of the Annual General Meeting in 2027. Thereafter, new appointees may apply to serve one further 3-year term.

This year, there is one Council position available. A current Council member, eligible for re-election, has indicated her willingness to apply again:

  • Professor Kirsti Bohata has attended 7 out of 12 meetings.

Please note that where existing Council members are eligible for a second term, they are still required to reapply and stand in an election. If we receive more applications than the number of places available, an election will be held.

Application process

Fellows intending to apply should take note of the following information: applications must be submitted on the Application Form and returned either by email (clerk@lsw.wales.ac.uk) or by post to the address indicated on the form. All submissions must arrive no later than Wednesday 07 February 2024.
