Lloyd Bowen is an historian of Wales and Britain in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. He has published widely on topics including Welsh politics and identity under the Tudors and Stuarts, gentry honour and duelling, and the politics of the British Civil Wars. His 2022 volume, Early Modern Wales, c.1536–c.1689 was the first textbook on Wales on this period for a generation. He helps run the AHRC-funded ‘Civil War Petitions’ project.
