Professor Burke is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He was President of the Operational Research Society between 2020 and 2022. His research lies at the boundary of operational research and computer science. In Research.com’s rankings on international scientists, Professor Burke is ranked 71st in the World (2nd in the UK) for Mathematics and 313 in the World (20th in the UK) for Computer Science. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Scheduling.
