World Class Places: UKRI Event, Bangor University

Come along and hear Professor Dame Ottoline Leyser, Chief Executive of UKRI, talking about UKRI’s first five-year strategy, at Bangor University at 10:00 on Friday 2nd December 2022.

UKRI is the UK’s largest public funder of research and innovation, investing more than £8 billion each year. We bring together expertise across all disciplines and sectors to advance our understanding of society and the world around us, and to capture and deliver value from knowledge and ideas.

UKRI’s strategy will catalyse an outstanding research and innovation system in the UK that gives everyone the opportunity to contribute and benefit, enriching lives locally, nationally, and globally.

Research and innovation are central to tackling the biggest challenges we face such as:

  • post-pandemic recovery
  • achieving Net Zero and
  • building a vibrant knowledge economy that benefits the whole of the UK.

The theme of the event is World Class Places. It will explore the diversity of UKRI-funded research and innovation across Wales. The programme will explore how we can work together to deliver on transformative opportunities for our society through research and innovation. This event is part of a programme of activity that will see UKRI engaging with communities across the UK.
