Aled Eirug tells the story of how British intelligence agencies targeted peace and labour activists in South Wales during the First World War. This lecture describes the extent of the anti-war movement in Wales and reveals the activities of police and intelligence agents to repress and persecute these activists. It also reveals the in-fighting between intelligence agencies and Lloyd George’s vital role in the battle for the loyalty of Wales for the war effort.
A Wales Studies Series lecture by Aled Eirug, supported by the Learned Society of Wales.
